The Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science at the University of Vermont is seeking to fill one faculty position. The position is a 9-month, tenure track position beginning August 2012. The appointment will be at the rank of assistant professor. Salary will be commensurate with the successful candidate's qualifications.
The position requires a physical therapist with an earned doctorate and eligible for licensure in Vermont. Individuals applying for the position must have focused research programs that complement those currently in our department, including neuro/musculoskeletal aspects of
movement/posture control and the role of exercise/physical activity in
management and prevention of disease and chronic conditions.
The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate, post-doctoral
experience, and current, or strong potential for, extramural funding.
Primary responsibilities of the position include research and scholarship,
grantsmanship, teaching in area of expertise, student advising and service
to the University. We also seek evidence of ability to work independently
and cooperatively within and across departments.
The department comprises three programs: Athletic Training Education Program, Exercise and Movement Science, and Physical Therapy. There
are, therefore, opportunities for interprofessional collaborations in
research and teaching. The department is also in the early stages of
developing a PhD program that will provide opportunities for faculty to
teach and mentor doctoral students.
