Position Description

Responsible for supporting development efforts of the Society and assisting state or area in reaching its goals.

Responsible for attainment of dollar and volunteer recruitment and management goals for special events including but not limited to Relay For Life, Daffodil Days, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and other special events within assigned geography.
Utilizing the volunteer management model, works through volunteers.
Volunteer management responsibilities include recruitment, training, and delegation to ensure successful implementation of a special event action plan which may include Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Daffodil Days, Relay for Life, galas and golf, Spin For Hope or other fund raising event or activity, such as memorial marketing, worksite, clubs and organizations.
Achieves results while staying within pre-approved budget and acceptable expense guidelines to achieve maximum net income.
Secures sponsorships and underwriting.
Identifies Major Gift and Legacies and Planned Giving prospects.
Ensures implementation of data collection for each income activity,
including income/expense information and donor/volunteer records.
Works closely with cancer control, advocacy, communications and corporate relations (where applicable) in a team environment to effectively represent the Society and its mission in the community.
Utilizes CRM strategy to retain top donors/top volunteers (i.e. team captains), retrieve lapsed top donors/top volunteers; and provide opportunities to donors/survivors/development volunteers to become advocates and/or cancer control volunteers.
Personally recruits assigned number of team captains for Relay For Life, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer or selected endurance events each year, and attains fundraising goal in accordance with Fight Back Team Challenge guidelines.
Implements special projects and other duties as needed.

Position Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
One to three years of successful fund raising or sales experience preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience recruiting, training, and delegating to volunteers desired.
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Ability to work cooperatively and in a team environment with peers and superiors.
Works well with limited supervision.
Can solve problems independently.
Travel required within assigned geography. Occasional evening and weekend work required; up to two to three evenings per week during Relay season, plus overnight for Relays.
Computer literate.
Able to work cooperatively and in a team environment with coworkers and supervisors.
May have supervisory responsibilities.
