The University of Vermont College of Medicine and Fletcher Allen Health Care, leaders in patient care, medical education and research, are seeking a Primary Care Internal Medicine Health Care Service Leader and Chief of Primary Care Internal Medicine division for a full-time position as an Associate Professor or Professor of Medicine (Clinical Scholar Pathway, non-tenure track). This individual will be the senior clinical leader responsible for all clinical care within the PCIM health care service and the education and research activity within the Primary Care Internal Medicine division of the UVM Department of Medicine. Primary Care Internal Medicine includes Hospitalists, Primary Care Internal Medicine physicians and Geriatricians. In collaboration with the Chair of Medicine and the President UVM Medical Group this position helps assure a focus on patient care, research, education and service. This incumbent will identify divisional goals that align with and complement those of the Department of Medicine, the College of Medicine, the UVM Medical Group and Fletcher Allen Health Care. In addition he/she will manage efficient and effective patient flow systems, achieve financial and operational targets, and coordinate clinical services, research, and resident and student education.

The incumbent should have been active in a successful and respected clinical practice in primary care internal medicine and have demonstrated scholarly activity. Must have demonstrated professional experience in progressively responsible positions in healthcare, with a strong working knowledge of physician practice, practice management, leadership roles. Professional work experience in integrated systems preferred. Must have demonstrated success in directing and managing physicians and/or operations and assuring both quality and financial success.
