Jobing Description

The Green Mountain Audubon Center in Huntington provides experienced teachers and environmental educators with an opportunity to work in a day camp setting. Instructors work 25 hours a week with children ages 3 to 5. Camps run for 8 weeks and campers spend time exploring the meadows, ponds and forests at the Audubon Center. Instructors teach outdoors, develop curriculum and work as part of a dynamic education team. Audubon will challenge you to enhance your teaching and interpretive skills while encouraging you to further your studies in the natural history of Vermont!

June 13 , 2012 August 20, 2012 (9 weeks and 4 days)

Preschool Nature Camp daily work hours are from 8:00am-1:00pm, Monday to Friday

Essential Functions:

* Attend a camp training led by professional Audubon Teacher/Naturalists.
* Develop and implement eight weeks of ecology/nature-based curriculum.
* Provide a fun, educational experience for children during camp.
* Maintain the safety and well being of all camp participants.
* Act as a mentor to college intern(s).
* Write a final evaluation of your camp experience by August 20.

Qualifications and Experience:

* Experience teaching children ages 3 to 5 and/or ages 6 to 12.
* Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
* BS or BA in Environmental Studies, Education or related field preferred.
* Strong organizational skills.
* Knowledge of the natural history of Vermont.
* Ability to work well as part of a team.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Must have reliable transportation.
* Must be able to commit to the entire period of work.
* Ability to pass criminal background check.
* First Aid and CPR certification (included in training).
