The American Red Cross, Northern New England Region has an opening for an RN/TEAM SUPERVISORin our Burlington, VT office.
Job Summary:
The position is responsible for ensuring efficient and effective supervision of whole blood, apheresis and special collections at fixed and/or mobile sites throughout the state of VT and in northern NH.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of twelve to sixteen interdisciplinary staff members as the team travels to sites across the state each day. Evaluate, assess, coach and counsel assigned staff. Mentoring staff particularly charge nurses.
Supervise daily operations at mobile blood drive site(s). Identify and resolve problems related to collections, donor suitability, donor care, public relations, supplies and equipment. Direct the activities of the staff to achieve smooth, efficient flow of donors as well as a pleasant and courteous environment. Ensure effective customer service to promote a positive, professional image of the American Red Cross Blood Services at all times.
Promote and maintain harmonious relations between staff as well as with volunteers, sponsors, donors and departmental representatives of the American Red Cross Blood Services New England Region. Maintain daily operational link with the Regional Nurse of the Day office.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, National Red Cross Blood Services Directives (BSD s), American Association of Blood Banking (AABB) standards and New England Region policies and procedures.
Encourage the growth and promotion of special collection procedures like platelets, plasma, double red cell collection, etc.
Qualifications:+ Requires current RN licensure for appropriate state(s). Requires job knowledge equivalent to that attained in three years of college (diploma program in Nursing). Requires total related experience factor of four to six years with a minimum of one year of supervisory experience. Prior experience in a union environment and blood services collection operations preferred.+ Requires the ability to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external audiences and to maintain excellent public relations. Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent time management, problem solving skills and customer service skills.+ Annual Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
