Job Summary:
The selected candidate in this role will be responsible for the planning, design, and integration of Windows/Unix servers, enterprise storage, virtualization platforms and associated services throughout the enterprise. Scope also includes Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Office Communications Server. Tasks include product evaluation, testing, deployment, and integration. When providing third level technical support, this person is also responsible for problem identification, research, resolution, and follow-up for service delivery issues. As the recognized technical expert, this person will serve as the senior technical advisor to a team of outstanding systems engineers. This position is considered essential to operations and will be required to be available during any emergency. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to maintain an on-call status. Position is required to develop and manage a team of Systems Administrators to provide ongoing maintenance and support of the enterprise server and storage architecture.
Responsibilities
Accountable to plan, engineer, design, implement and manage infrastructure and responsible for oversight of configuration, maintenance and capacity planning for enterprise server and storage devices.
Accountable to execute project engineering and solution processes and functions for technologies in scope. Responsible for service and project delivery.
Accountable to implement and execute the enterprise architecture, solution engineering, standards and strategy for operational usage across the Enterprise.
Establish and maintain strong collaborative relationships with strategic partners from within IT Systems Management, Architecture & Planning, Project Management, Business Application Management, IT Security Management, IT Vendor Management
Participate in the development and execution of standards
Participate in the execution of technology lifecycle and roadmap for the technologies in scope, including technology absorption, risk, technology refresh, migration and retirement strategies.
Execute capacity planning, monitoring, operations and infrastructure management processes for technologies in scope.
Monitor, report and present key infrastructure performance metrics for technologies in scope to IT leadership.
Requirements:
A minimum of at least 5 - 10 years experience in selecting, design engineering, solution engineering, project engineering, integrating and implementing infrastructure technologies and services.
Demonstrated skills in developing a technology plan including technical approach as well as the related business case for the use of that technology.
Strong background and understanding of the technical direction and the prevailing standards for Enterprise Server/Storage technologies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to build consensus and to present complex presentations. Ability to explain complex technical detail and tradeoffs to non-technical associates.
Deep and broad knowledge of full range of client, server and distributed computing hardware and systems management, application infrastructure, and related operating system and supporting technologies, design standards and options.
Deep and broad knowledge of enterprise level storage area networks (HDS USPV, EMC DMX) data center storage replication services and supporting technologies, design standards and options.
Deep Technical knowledge in EMC Storage, SQL database, Oracle, Cisco devices, Firewall, F5 (BigIP) Load Balancing, Active Directory, core Microsoft technologies and Avaya.
Possesses strong knowledge of vendor community for full range of infrastructure technologies including but not limited to client, server, database, network and operating systems.
Knowledge & understanding of architecture, design, operations support & troubleshooting (DNS, WINS, DHCP, IP addressing, LDAP authentication), Cisco and Checkpoint firewalls, encryption and security technologies, load balancers, switches, routers, secure remote access.
Knowledge and understanding of Storage provisioning, Disaster Recovery and SAN Fabric management. This includes HDS USPV, EMC Symmetrix/Clariion, EMC data replication strategies, SAS and SATA Directed attached storage systems.
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills that allow for managing technology consultants, and service providers that do not report directly to this position. Must have the ability to interact with the senior leadership team. Must have the ability to develop and present IT engineering designs, implementation plans and operational performance metrics.
5+ years of Windows 2003/2008 Server and Network administration
3+ years of Microsoft IIS technologies including Windows OS, messaging and Windows networking
3+ years of Cisco Switch and Router configuration and management
3+ years of DNS, DHCP and Active Directory technologies
3+ years of experience with Microsoft VM or VMWare technologies
2+ years of experience with Telecommunications technologies a plus
Bachelors degree in related field required.
